Prof. Jim Iliopoulos has completed training in the specialties of Vascular Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery as well as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Thoracic Aortic Surgery.
Prof. Iliopoulos provides a range of vascular services (both endovascular and open vascular surgery) for the management of: Carotid artery disease; Thoracic and abdominal aortic disease; Peripheral vascular disease; and Venous disease & Varicose veins.
In addition, he has an interest in the endovascular treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms.
Prof. Iliopoulos has a conjoint academic appointment with Western Sydney University. He obtained his PhD through the University of New South Wales (UNSW) titled “The Aortic Wrap Procedure: A Surgical Method of Treating Age-Related Aortic Dilatation and Stiffness”.
Prof. Iliopoulos is a member of the Australian & New Zealand Society of Vascular Surgery (ANZSVS), and The Australian & New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons (ANZSCTS). He is the Director of Surgery at Liverpool Hospital and the Area Director of Vascular Surgery for the SWSLHD.
Prof. Iliopoulos is currently appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer to: St George Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, The Sutherland Hospital, Bankstown Hospital, and Campbelltown Hospital.
